Social & Environmental Awareness

Helping Station DEU

Your day

The programme journey

Five stages that take a group of students from listening, to creating, to actually changing something on campus.

  1. Stage 1 ยท 60 min

    Awareness session

Short, engaging talks and videos about local social and environmental issues โ€” plus what students can realistically do about them.

  2. Stage 2 ยท 75 min

    Team poster making

Small mixed teams design posters, slogans and social-media cards that turn the message into something shareable.

  3. Stage 3 ยท 45 min

    Group showcase

Each team presents its work. Every participant gets a chance to stand up and speak โ€” first-timers especially welcome.

  4. Stage 4 ยท 90 min

    Volunteer action

Real work, not role-play: campus clean-up, waste separation stations, recycling drives and outreach in the community.

  5. Stage 5 ยท 30 min

    Lucky draw & awards

Every verified participant gets one entry. Prizes are drawn live on the projector and can be verified afterwards.

Get involved

Choose your activity

Everyone takes part in the awareness sessions. Then pick the activity team that matches what you enjoy doing.

  • Waste separation station

Sort, label and weigh campus waste, then record what could actually be recycled.

  • Poster & design team

Turn awareness content into posters, banners and short videos.

  • Community outreach

Talk to local residents and businesses about waste and recycling habits.

  • Green campus audit

Walk the campus, photograph problem spots and propose fixes.

  • Awareness booth

Run an information stand with quizzes and reusable giveaways.

  • Social media campaign

Publish the team's message and follow the response.

What to bring

  • Your student ID
  • Comfortable clothes you can get dirty
  • A refillable water bottle
  • Sun protection (we are outside for part of the day)
  • Your entry number (on your phone or printed)

Lunch, drinking water, gloves and all cleaning equipment are provided by the programme. You do not need to bring anything else.

Your organiser

Questions before the day? Ask anything โ€” including accessibility needs, dietary requirements, or whether an activity suits you. Nothing is too small to ask.

Fair play

A lucky draw you can actually trust

Most event draws are a black box. This one is not. The rules are published, the pool is frozen before anything is selected, and the randomness is verifiable afterwards.

  • 1

    Only verified participants

You need to actually take part. The organiser confirms attendance, and only confirmed participants enter the draw.

  • 2

    The list is frozen first

When the draw starts, the participant list is locked and hashed. Nobody can join, leave or swap afterwards.

  • 3

    Selected by the server

The winner is picked by a cryptographically secure random generator on the server. The animation only reveals a result that already exists.

  • 4

    Anyone can check it

Afterwards we publish the randomness fingerprint and the participant-list fingerprint, so the result can be independently re-derived.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need experience?
No. Plenty of first-timers join every edition, and every activity team has a coordinator who walks new volunteers through it.
Is there a fee?
No. Registration, activities and lunch are free. Prizes are a token of thanks for taking part.
What if I register but cannot come?
Please tell the organiser so your place can be released to somebody on the waiting list. You can cancel from your account page.
How do I enter the lucky draw?
Register, then take part in the main activities. The organiser confirms attendance, and confirmed participants get exactly one draw entry.
Do I need to give my phone number?
Yes, we need a number to run the event safely. It is not published anywhere, and you can ask the organiser to delete it after the event.
What exactly am I consenting to?
Three separate things: the participation rules, processing your registration data, and being included in the lucky draw. You can additionally choose whether your masked name is shown on the public winners page, and whether you may be contacted about collecting a prize โ€” both are optional.
Is my name shown publicly?
No. Public pages only ever show your entry number and, if you opt in, a masked name such as โ€œM**i P***โ€. Your e-mail, phone and student ID are never published.
